Johnston & Jeff Monkey nuts are simply peanuts that are still in their shells. These are a great supplementary food because birds have to get into the shells before they can get to the reward inside, so it keeps them busy and provides a mental workout!
It can also provide hours of entertainment, as watching the birds removing the shell from the nuts is a charming and spectacle. The tit family are particularly keen on monkey nuts and will often pick them over shelled nuts despite the shelled nuts being much easier to eat.

Monkey Nuts are also great for garden birds.The species of wild birds in particular that enjoy the challenge of breaking the shell of monkey nuts are Jackdaws, Magpies and Crows. Blue tits have also been known to chip away at the shell of a monkey nut!
